In this the first of a periodical look at the various Youth Organisations centred in and around the Togher district , the Blog will highlight a fantastic project which has catapulted one such group on to the World Stage by going back in time to the future!

21st October 2015 was a pivotal moment in a certain Hollywood time travel movie of the 1980s - Back To The Future 2 - in which the central characters Marty McFly and Doc arrived 30 years into the Future. Groups and organisations throughout the globe celebrated the event by hosting projects and days of remembrance on the actual date.

Togher was no exception when two youths Finbar Kelleher (13) as “ Doc ” and Liam Scannell (14) as “ Marty McFly” from Foróige’s TACT Youth Group based in the old Girls National School staged a spectacular reenactment which consisted of dressing up but more amazingly constructing a replica of the DeLorean car used in the movie complete with flowers signifying the exhaust flames.

The photo has since gone viral around the World and is a great showcase for the youth of Togher. The blog would like to congratulate the boys and indeed the leaders of the group for their wonderful work in promoting the region. Eamonn Pearse on behalf of the Togher Historical Assoc. was on hand to capture some twilight photos ( shown above ) of the famous car in Togher recently.
